Role Overview
PeopleFun is seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Software Engineering / Principal Engineer to lead the technical vision, strategy, and execution for Wordscapes Solitaire, one of our largest and most beloved live titles.
In this role, you will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team and own the technical quality, scalability, and stability of the game. You’ll define and drive the technical roadmap, balance feature delivery with long-term architectural health, and mentor engineers to raise the overall technical bar.
This is a hands-on leadership position for a deeply technical engineer who enjoys building systems as much as building people. You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Central Tech teams to deliver impactful new features, improve performance, and ensure the game continues to delight millions of players worldwide.

- Lead and mentor the Wordscapes Solitaire engineering team to achieve consistent, high-quality feature delivery and technical excellence.
- Drive technology initiatives and establish best practices that align/support business goals and product roadmap(s), filling technical gaps as needed.
- Define team standards, technical direction, tools, and engineering best practices to increase team efficiency, velocity, and stability throughout each release.
- Partner with the Product and Design to define a technical and feature roadmap for the project

- Enhancing and maintaining asset-pipeline and content-delivery systems that support ongoing LiveOps and limited-time events.
- Expanding localization, data, and configuration frameworks for global operations.
- Improving client–server communication, save-data management, and game-startup performance.
- Evolving tools, automation, and processes to streamline build and release workflows.
- Ensure smooth and stable release and deployment processes, reducing risk while increasing velocity.
- Collaborate with Platform Tech (our central tech team) and other internal teams to share learnings, influence shared-tech priorities, and adopt common best practices.
- Foster a healthy engineering culture centered on accountability, knowledge-sharing, and continuous improvement.
- Represent Engineering in cross-functional planning and ensure clarity around trade-offs, risks, and technical opportunities.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 8 + years of professional software-engineering experience, including 3 + years in a technical-lead or management capacity.
- Proven track record of shipping and maintaining large-scale live mobile games built with Unity and C#.
- Exposure to localization, data-driven configuration, or A/B testing frameworks for live mobile games.
- Deep understanding of Unity architecture and best practices for performance optimization, asset management, UI systems, and build pipelines.
- Strong grasp of software-design principles—separation of concerns, event-driven systems, maintainability, extensibility, and testability.
- Experience balancing short-term delivery with long-term technical strategy and communicating trade-offs effectively.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and grow engineers, creating an environment of trust, ownership, and excellence.

Nice to Have
- Experience collaborating with shared-technology or platform teams.
- Familiarity with backend technologies (e.g., Nakama, Node.js, or Go) and cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure).
- Experience improving or automating CI/CD pipelines and LiveOps delivery processes.
