Role Overview & Key Responsibilities
Role Overview
The Character Artist creates high-quality 2D painted character concepts and renders for in-game use, following project requirements, style guidelines, and schedules. The role involves self-checking work using checklists, iterating on feedback from the Team Leader and Art Director, communicating challenges early, and supporting junior artists to ensure consistent and polished character art delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce concept and 2D Painted Renders of assets for the characters for the game engine
- Understand and follow the art requirements and the specific needs of the project
- Promptly learn any new tools or techniques
- Execute tasks assigned to them according to the project schedule while meeting quality expectations
- Using Checklists to perform initial art and technical quality checks before sending the art asset to the Team Leader for review
- Fix all problems noted by the Team Leader and the Art Director
- Promptly report to the Team Leader about any difficulties encountered
- Support Junior Artists, helping them to deal with tasks when needed
Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Strong portfolio showing examples of 2d painted character design examples
- Excellent 2D experience with Photoshop
- Good basic art skills in art fundamentals (color composition and form)
- Good understanding of character design
- Passionate about games
- 3D software knowledge is a plus
- Unity experience is a plus
