Our mission is to empower operators to perform complex missions safely and effectively. As we expand our footprint in the UK, we are seeking a Chief Pilot to serve as the operational face of XTEND in demonstrations, training, and deployment.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Chief Pilot / Technical Demonstrator to lead XTEND’s drone flight operations in the UK. This role will combine hands-on piloting and demonstrations with technical integration and customer-facing responsibilities. The Chief Pilot will be instrumental in building trust with UK defence stakeholders through world-class operational expertise and professional execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead all drone flight operations and serve as XTEND’s Chief Pilot in the UK.
- Conduct live demonstrations and training sessions for MoD and defence partners.
- Support system integration and on-site deployment of XTEND’s platforms.
- Act as the technical point of contact for UK customers during demos and pilots.
- Ensure compliance with UK aviation and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with HQ engineering and product teams to refine operational capabilities.
- Mentor and train additional pilots as the UK team expands.
Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience as a drone pilot (preferably in defence/security environments).
- Deep understanding of UAV operations, safety standards, and UK aviation regulations.
- Strong presentation and communication skills – comfortable leading customer demos.
- Technical aptitude to support system integration and troubleshooting.
- Military or defence background – an advantage.
- Ability to work independently in a startup-style environment.
- Full professional proficiency in English.
