This role has been designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2-3 days per week from an HPE office.

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced strategy and planning leader to drive the strategy and vision for the mainstream compute portfolio. In this role, you will lead a team of portfolio planners who are the subject-matter experts on market, customer segments, use cases, and technology that will build a roadmap for future differentiated products to enable customer business outcomes and digital transformation.

To be a successful candidate, you will have proven experience leading product management or strategy teams at a data center infrastructure or cloud company. You are seasoned in building and leading high-performance teams and have a track record of disrupting markets by converting high level strategies into market-winning products. You should have a passion for technology with a proven ability to articulate market direction, customer pain points, and a compelling narrative on how the strategy will deliver value. You embrace change, thrive on creating transformation, and have a commit and go mindset.


  • Assess emerging trends, markets, and opportunities to define the right mix of offerings at the right ROI

  • Define the product portfolio strategy and vision in collaboration with the leadership, engineering, and product management teams

  • Bring the voice of customers into the organization to shape the product portfolio direction.

  • Lead market and technology research, synthesizing output into compelling portfolio recommendations.

  • Partner with other business units and functions to incorporate input into the product plan.

  • Lead and develop a high-performing product planning team.

  • Engage with sales and segment teams.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, or related field of study. MBA or advanced degree in computer science or engineering is a plus.

  • 15+ years of work experience in related field

  • Proven ability to define and execute a business strategy that drives operational excellence & revenue.

  • Demonstrated experience in working with cross-functional teams.

  • Prior experience with a Service Provider is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in Data Center/Cloud technologies, customer/market knowledge

  • Experience with public cloud offerings from AWS, Azure, Google Cloud is a plus

  • Strong business acumen

  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and functional disciplines.

  • Excellent negotiating skills.

The expected salary/wage range for a U.S.-based hire filling this position is provided below. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. If this is a sales role, then the listed salary range reflects combined base salary and target-level sales compensation pay. If this is a non-sales role, then the listed salary range reflects base salary only. Variable incentives may also be offered. USD Annual Salary: $158,500.00 - $383,500.00
