Job Description:
HPE is seeking a Datacenter Technician to design, test and administer systems in support of the Supercomputing-as-a-Service (SCaaS) business. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a key business with considerable growth potential. In this role, you will be a contributing and important team member, working on solutions that will support a scaling customer base.
This role will be performed onsite at the datacenter in Rjukan, Norway.
There will be weekend/off hours on call rotation for this position.
Primary Responsibilities
Part of a regional on-site team to build and support a multi-tenant cloud-based Supercomputing-as-a-Service business
Prepares, stages, sets up, and performs system startups/shutdowns, following established guides and procedures
Onsite technician maintaining and supporting all aspects of the supercomputer system
Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting, triaging and then escalating system issues that may occur
Involved in system upkeep and upgrades, including hardware maintenance, warranty service, replacements and expansions
Perform hardware break/fix hardware swap and coordinate factory warranty services
Follows all security protocols as defined by the security architect
Works closely with Site Reliability Engineers to ensure systems are operational at all times
Documents inbound/outbound packages. Receives, confirms, tracks, stores, dispatches, and delivers material from the warehouse to destinations, including production facilities.
Ensures complete and detailed physical inventory tracking and staging.
Maintains up-to-date and accurate logical information within various inventory management systems.
Coordinates, prepares, and executes incoming and outgoing deliveries.
Performs material movement, including shipping/receiving and inventory management.
Experience and Skills
Experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
Flexible and comfortable working on a varying and broad set of issues that may arise from day to day
Applicable certifications: CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).
An understanding of high-speed networks
An understanding of the security concerns in a cloud environment
Experience with common datacenter hardware including CPUs, GPUs, management, and network equipment
Good communication skills, including English, Norwegian would be an advantage
Hands on experience with the tools and infrastructure to support HPC systems at scale including networking and storage
An understanding of high-performance computing
Proficient in the use and operation of Linux based environments including shells, system configuration and administrative skills.
Prior experience with large scale clustered systems (preferably HPC experience with parallel compute systems)
2+ years of hands-on experience working on or supporting enterprise grade server infrastructures
BS in Computer Science, IT Management, or equivalent
