Job Family Definition:

Directs, manages, leads, and coordinates the integration of existing and/or new Information Technology solutions according to requirements of one or more functions, businesses, geographies, and/or IT transformational activities. Areas of responsibility may include business and technical systems design, acquisition and/or development, implementation, and support; infrastructure design, acquisition, implementation, operation, and maintenance; client services support. Establishes functional business plans and technical project/program objectives to meet the short- and long-term goals and metrics of the organization, including internal/external partners required to utilize alternative resourcing plans. Understands, articulates, and optimizes application and process capabilities for use by multiple/all business and IT constituents; drives architectural standards and simplification. Ensures the design, development, delivery and supportability of services/solutions for businesses are in accordance with business and IT objectives.

Management Level Definition:

Leads a large or broad function/department within a multifaceted organization. Responsible for operational success, strategic alignment and integration of activities with other major organizational functions. Responsible for one or more recognized professional disciplines. Fully accountable for the success of the designated function or department. Influences strategy and sets policy and direction. Owns a significant number of measurable functional, operational and strategic goals or priorities. Assumes responsibility for the successful implementation of business plans in a defined area of responsibility. Contributes to the overall strategic definition of a function with strong business acumen. Acts as a key advisor to executive management in influencing the strategic direction of the business. Typically reports to VP.

Position Description:

The Director IT Infrastructure Governance reports directly to the VP Global IT Infrastructure and is responsible for the continuous improvement of delivery of all HPE IT infrastructure services.

This position has equal focus on operational execution and transformational initiatives and requires a high degree of collaboration with other technical and business leaders to ensure our solutions are business aligned. This role ensures that day-to-day delivery of Infrastructure services meets or exceeds business expectations and works to ensure continuous improvement of SLAs and communication. He / she responds to industry trends by helping business leaders facilitate the decision-making process and providing actionable recommendations on initiatives and policies to help the organization innovate and drive toward targeted business outcomes.

Strategic and Operational Planning and Execution

  • Executes the mission, vision, and strategic direction for the Global IT Infrastructure department, optimizing support for both business and IT enterprise initiatives.
  • Facilitates the management and reporting of the annual Infrastructure budget, ensuring alignment with IT and enterprise strategic objectives while fostering a culture of ongoing cost optimization.
  • Creates the governance structure and processes necessary to measure, manage, and continually improve the value delivered by the Global IT Infrastructure function, aligned with customer requirements.
  • Provides guidance and supervision throughout the entire lifecycle of IT systems, collaborating closely with peers to identify opportunities for efficient, standardized solutions and shared infrastructure platforms.
  • Communicates and reports on enterprise risk whilst delivering IT Infrastructure solutions to business and IT leaders, facilitating consensus and buy-in.

Build and Maintain Relationships

  • Establishes strong relationships with key stakeholders from both IT and business leadership, fostering a deep understanding of business requirements, and ensuring timely, high-quality, cost-efficient delivery of IT services to fulfill those needs.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to VP Global IT Infrastructure, advising on both tactical and strategic moves to improve organizational execution.
  • Collaborates with fellow IT leaders to create an environment where knowledge and insights can be openly exchanged.
  • Engages in negotiations and exercises influence with partners and service providers to secure optimal outcomes for infrastructure and the broader business.
  • Breaks down organizational barriers horizontally and vertically to cultivate the most impactful stakeholder relationships.

Drives Innovation

  • Collaborates closely with IT and business leaders to pinpoint and prioritize opportunities for significant technology and process enhancements.
  • Actively seeks out strategic partnerships that confer a competitive advantage, positioning Infrastructure as an innovation hub for HPE.
  • Establishes and applies standards and processes in alignment with the business strategy.
  • Advances the maturity of Infrastructure to enhance efficiency, facilitate the introduction of new innovations, and foster collaboration with other IT and business areas.

Executes Against Business Priorities

  • Collaborates with the IT senior leadership team to manage the service portfolio and governance processes for resource prioritization, including budget allocation. Engages with key stakeholders to assess and prioritize the resolution of technical debt.
  • Formulates business cases that comprehensively evaluate costs and benefits, fostering collaborative decision-making. Enhances IT resilience by implementing strategies that bolster reliability and readiness for disaster recovery.
  • Conducts ongoing assessments of the business value delivered by Infrastructure, utilizing metrics such as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Outcome-Driven Metrics, and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Promotes the adoption and commitment to service improvements through a systematic approach to continuous enhancement, measuring the impact and sharing the achieved results.

Team Leadership

  • Cultivates and empowers a robust and diverse IT Infrastructure Governance team, fostering growth and development.
  • Collaborates with the Vendor Management Office (VMO) to formulate an IT Infrastructure sourcing strategy and provides management of strategic vendor and partner relationships.
  • Collaborates with HR and the IT leadership team to create and implement workforce plans that ensure IT Infrastructure can meet demand with a pool of skilled resources.
  • Constructs a compelling employee value proposition for IT Infrastructure, attracting and retaining top talent.
  • Promotes a culture characterized by inclusivity, continuous learning, and transparency within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Holds a bachelor's degree in business or a related field of study or possesses equivalent professional experience.
  • A Master of Business Administration is preferred.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, and/or PMI-PMP certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrates five or more years of experience in spearheading strategy and governance for a large global enterprise.
  • Exhibits outstanding leadership skills, capable of articulating and communicating an inspiring IT Infrastructure Governance vision that aligns with the broader IT and business strategies.
  • Possesses effective influencing and negotiation abilities, particularly in complex environments where this role may not directly control the resources required for success.
  • Demonstrates excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning, and execution skills.
  • Has the capacity to build consensus, influence decisions considering multiple variables, and garner support for significant initiatives.
  • Experienced in budget planning and financial management.
  • Develops and deploys processes and governance to achieve regulatory or statutory compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in third-party management and collaborates closely with sourcing and vendor managers.
  • Possesses a forward-thinking attitude, embracing innovation to drive the organization's digital business strategies.
  • Fluent in the language of business, bridging the gap between technical and business domains.
  • Trusted and respected as a thought leader capable of influencing and persuading both business and IT leaders. Highly collaborative and supportive of business objectives and strategies.
  • Innately innovative with a penchant for foresight, systems thinking, and design thinking.

The expected salary/wage range for a U.S.-based hire filling this position is provided below. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. If this is a sales role, then the listed salary range reflects combined base salary and target-level sales compensation pay. If this is a non-sales role, then the listed salary range reflects base salary only. Variable incentives may also be offered. USD Annual Salary: $133,000.00 - $322,000.00
