Job Description:

We seek a highly skilled US Customs Drawback Manager to lead and manage our customs drawback operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in customs regulations and drawback processes. This role will ensure compliance with all relevant laws and optimize the recovery of duty refunds.
- Drawback Management - Oversee and manage the full cycle of customs drawback processes, from application to recovery.

Job Family Definition:

Responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating Drawback business processes. Partners with stakeholders to identify/implement opportunities for business process improvement to effectively manage costs, integrate new and existing businesses, and adapt to business and regulatory environment changes.

Leading and working with cross-functional teams, creates and implements plans that enable the execution of Drawback strategies.

Management Level Definition:

Applies expert subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving most complex business/technical issues within established policies. Manages activities of exempt individual contributors (typically Expert/Master) and/or MG1s. Has accountability for a large multi-department area(s) or location(s) significantly impacting business unit results and organizational strategy. Acts as a key advisor to senior management on the development of overall policies and long-term goals of the organization. Plans, manages and monitors high-end operational/tactical activities of Staff. Staff members' primary focus is on either high-end tactical or broad strategic issues or a combination of both. Recruits and supports the development of direct staff members. The position typically reports to the Director or above.

Additional Guidance/Criteria: Manages and controls activities within a sub-region or Region.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the US Drawback Operation, meeting financial commitments and compliance requirements.

  • Manages a team of senior-level exempt individual contributors

  • Responsible for hiring, setting, and monitoring annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; ensures that the proper tools are in place to support the team and the processes.

  • Consults with business leaders to guide and influence strategic decision-making within a broad scope.

  • Creates new operational efficiencies and process improvements

  • Oversees the development and delivery of complex initiatives that can impact the supply chain globally, typically requiring the leadership of cross-functional and cross-regional teams.

  • Compliance Assurance - Ensure all drawback claims comply with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and internal policies.

  • Documentation - Participate in the comprehensive review of drawback claims with supporting documentation.

  • Team Leadership - Lead, mentor, and develop the team of drawback specialists.

  • Process Improvement - Implement best practices and process improvements to maximize efficiency and recovery rates.

  • Audit Preparation - Coordinate and prepare for CBP audits and respond to any inquiries or audits effectively.

  • Training - Conduct training sessions for internal teams on drawback regulations and procedures.

  • Stakeholder Communication - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues.

  • Reporting - Generate and present regular reports on drawback activities, recovery rates, and compliance statuses.

Education and Experience Required:

  • First level university degree or equivalent experience; advanced university degree preferred.
  • Typically 10+ years of experience in a supply chain function (or related fields).
  • Typically 2-4 years of people management experience.
  • Preference for Licensed Customs Broker

  • Excellent understanding of US Customs Duty Drawback program processes, business operations, and strategy.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, analysis, data modeling, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management skills, including time and risk management and project structuring.
  • Advanced leadership skills, including coaching, team-building, conflict resolution, and management.
  • Ability to manage human capital in a virtual and global environment to drive workforce development and achieve desired results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including advanced negotiation, presentation, and influence skills.
  • Superior business acumen, technical knowledge of multiple business units, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies.
  • Strong understanding of the company's policies and processes.
  • Advanced multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Advanced understanding of national and international trade requirements.
  • Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting.
  • Advanced communication skills catered to a wide variety of audiences. (e.g. written, verbal, presentation); mastery in English. and local language

USD Annual Salary: $98,000.00 - $225,500.00
