Job Description:

This is a rare chance for an ambitious highly motivated early or mid-career technologist to join an industrial research Lab: The Security Lab in HPE Labs. We offer you a unique opportunity to extend your career by constantly learning new technologies and exploring your innovative ideas. You’ll be collaborating with HPE colleagues around the world and with our external collaborators on various open-source projects.

HPE Labs is an international research organization with its headquarters and largest facility located in Milpitas, California. As the central research organization for Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), HPE Labs' purpose is to deliver breakthrough technologies and technology advancements that provide a competitive advantage for the company, by investing in fundamental science and technology in areas of interest to HPE and getting the resulting technologies ready for adoption into new and existing markets.

The Security Lab researches and develops foundational security capabilities for HPE products and services in collaboration with our business units, supply chain, partners and the open-source community. Our current projects include confidential computing, post-quantum cryptography, security of AI and applications of AI to security.

We are seeking an early or mid-career technologist to join our research team in Bristol. The ideal candidate will thrive on looking for new innovative ways to solve problems. They will have very strong implementation skills and enjoy building robust product-ready prototypes to test and demonstrate their ideas. They will be comfortable co-designing systems and solutions with colleagues and owning the implementation of significant components.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in computer science or related discipline and around 2-6 years of experience since graduation.
  • Participation in research and innovation projects

Skills

  • Strong implementation skills with experience in one or more of the following: Python, Rust, C, Go
  • Good knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems and networking
  • Good knowledge of system security techniques and principles
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English
  • Comfortable presenting to other technologists
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You like collaborating, enjoy working in a team and are a strong team player, and can also work independently
