Job Description:
We are seeking a senior technologist to join the Security Lab in HPE Labs. This an opportunity to define a research agenda and take the lead on research projects with the objective of building advanced security capabilities for HPE products and customers.
HPE Labs is an international research organization with its headquarters and largest facility located in Milpitas, California. As the central research organization for Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), HPE Labs' purpose is to deliver breakthrough technologies and technology advancements that provide a competitive advantage for the company, by investing in fundamental science and technology in areas of interest to HPE and getting the resulting technologies ready for adoption into new and existing markets.
The Security Lab researches and develops foundational security capabilities for HPE products and services in collaboration with our business units, supply chain, partners and the open-source community. Our current projects include confidential computing, post-quantum cryptography, security of AI and applications of AI to security.
We are seeking a technical leader to join our research team in Bristol, UK. The ideal candidate will thrive on looking for new innovative ways to solve problems. They will have very strong implementation skills and enjoy building robust product-ready prototypes to test and demonstrate their ideas. They will be skilled at leading the design of systems and solutions with colleagues and owning the implementation of significant components. They will have passion for technology and be able to motivate and inspire others.
Education and Experience
- PhD (or equivalent research experience) plus 10 or more years of experience
- Track record of innovation driven into products
- Experience as a technical leader
Skills
- Application of AI to security or security of AI
- Excellent knowledge of system security techniques and principles
- Strong implementation skills with experience in one or more of the following: Python, Rust, C, Go
- Excellent knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems and networking
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English
- Comfortable presenting to executives, technologists and customers
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent leadership skills
- You like collaborating, enjoy working in a team and are a strong team player
