HPE is seeking a talented Kernel Test Engineer with a strong background in network protocols and test automation to join our growing team. As part of our cutting-edge networking solutions, you will be responsible for validating and debugging routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, MPLS, and Strong understanding of OSI Model, TCP/IP protocol suite (ARP, NDP, ICMP, IGMP, TCP/IP, UDP, DNS)

Management Level Definition:
Contributions include applying intermediate level of subject matter expertise to solve common technical problems. Acts as an informed team member providing analysis of information and recommendations for appropriate action. Works independently within an established framework and with moderate supervision.
What you’ll do:
- Design, execute, and maintain automated and manual test cases to validate the performance and functionality of routing protocols such as ARP, NDP, ICMP, IGMP, TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, OSPF, BGP, and MPLS.
- Conduct performance, scalability, longevity, and benchmarking tests across product test plans.
- Develop and enhance test automation frameworks using Python to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Investigate and debug complex network issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including development, product management, and QA to design test plans, environments, and tools.
- Document and communicate test results, including detailed bug reports and feedback, to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in testing and automation to enhance efficiency and product quality.
What you need to bring:
- Strong experience in automation, preferably with Python; familiarity with frameworks such as Robot Framework or Pytest is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of Layer-2 and Layer-3 protocols including OSPF, BGP, MPLS, and Segment Routing. Solid understanding of the OSI Model and TCP/IP protocol suite (ARP, IP, ICMP, IGMP, TCP, UDP, SNMP, FTP).
- Experience in OS-level security validation, authentication protocols, and cybersecurity testing.
- Hands-on experience with white-box testing and kernel infrastructure testing is an added advantage.
- Proficiency with test tools such as IXIA and Spirent for traffic generation and performance validation.
- Strong debugging skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex networking issues in multi-vendor environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical insights to diverse audiences.
- Capability to architect innovative testing solutions using AI/ML is highly desirable.
