We are looking for an experienced L3 Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) and Linux Specialist to support and manage advanced operations for hyper-converged infrastructure platforms and Linux environments. The ideal candidate will have in-depth technical expertise in VMware, Nutanix, VxRail, HPE Simplivity, and Linux systems. As an L3 engineer, you will handle escalations, lead troubleshooting efforts for complex issues, and contribute to the strategic planning and optimization of infrastructure solutions. This role requires advanced problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless infrastructure operations.
What you'll do:
Advanced Infrastructure Implementation and Management:
- Provide advanced-level support in implementing, configuring, and troubleshooting Simplivity, Nutanix, VxRail, and Linux environments based on customer requirements and industry best practices.
- Manage and optimize virtualization platforms, including VMware ESXi, vSphere, Nutanix AHV, and Linux.
- Configure and maintain high-availability solutions, storage systems, and disaster recovery solutions for HCI and Linux environments.
Escalation and Troubleshooting:
- Act as the final escalation point for resolving complex technical issues related to Simplivity, Nutanix, VxRail, and Linux infrastructure, including performance, availability, and critical incidents.
- Diagnose and resolve advanced issues related to vSphere storage, networking, and plugins, as well as Linux performance, kernel configurations, and system dependencies.
Performance Optimization and Capacity Planning:
- Conduct advanced performance monitoring, capacity planning, and optimization for HCI platforms, Linux servers, and virtualization environments.
- Analyze infrastructure performance trends, identify bottlenecks, and implement proactive optimization measures.
Integration and Automation:
- Lead the integration of HCI solutions with third-party tools and applications, including backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring systems.
- Design and implement automation scripts for repetitive tasks, system configurations, and monitoring using tools like PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible.
Strategic Collaboration and Leadership:
- Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of HCI and Linux environments.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to L1 and L2 engineers, sharing best practices and knowledge for handling complex technical challenges.
Documentation and Knowledge Management:
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation for HCI and Linux infrastructure, including design blueprints, configuration guides, troubleshooting procedures, and operational runbooks.
- Lead knowledge-sharing sessions to train and upskill junior engineers and team members.
Compliance and Security:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and security best practices for HCI and Linux systems.
- Implement and monitor system hardening measures for virtualization platforms and Linux servers.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, trends, and advancements in hyper-converged infrastructure and Linux environments.
- Provide strategic recommendations to improve and modernize HCI and Linux solutions based on industry trends and organizational needs.
What you need to bring:
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Expertise in VMware ESXi, vSphere, and vCenter, including troubleshooting vSphere storage, networking, and plugin issues at an advanced level.
- Advanced knowledge of Linux system administration, including performance tuning, kernel troubleshooting, file system management, and network configurations.
- Strong technical understanding of HCI platforms, including Dell VxRail, Nutanix AHV/AOS, and HPE Simplivity.
- Proficiency in disaster recovery solutions, high-availability configurations, and backup integrations for HCI and Linux systems.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, or Bash scripting.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to resolve highly complex technical issues independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders.
